Position Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR Coordinator Co-op/Intern to join the Human Resources team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in human resources within a leading national human rights organization. The successful candidate will support various HR functions while contributing to our mission of advancing 2SLGBTQI rights and inclusion.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
• Assist with job posting creation and distribution across multiple platforms • Support candidate screening and interview coordination
• Maintain candidate databases
• Participate in recruitment events and job fairs
Employee Relations & Support
• Support onboarding processes for new employees
• Assist with employee file management and documentation • Support workplace culture initiatives and employee engagement activities • Assist with offboarding and exit interview processes and documentation
HR Administration
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases
• Support benefits administration and enrollment processes
• Help prepare HR reports and analytics
• Support compliance monitoring and documentation
Policy & Procedure Development
• Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures • Support the development of HR training materials and resources • Help maintain the HR documentation and databases
Special Projects
• Support Egale's innovative 4-day work week pilot evaluation and implementation
• Assist with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
• Contribute to HR technology implementations and improvements • Support organizational development projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience
• Currently enrolled in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field at a post-secondary institution returning to school after this co op/internship
• Previous co-op, internship, or volunteer experience in HR or administrative roles preferred
• Knowledge of employment standards and human rights legislation (Ontario/Federal) an asset
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Strong data entry and database management skills
• Familiarity with social media platforms and other technology for HR/ recruitment purposes
Core Competencies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (French an asset) • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Problem-solving mindset with ability to work independently
• Cultural competency and sensitivity to 2SLGBTQI issues and communities • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
