The successful candidate will be part of the Senior Management Team providing leadership over all financial functions within the company.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation of all financial reports specifically month end reports within 7 calendar days of month end
- Financial statement analysis with presentation to senior leadership
- Work closely with the Corporate Planning Manager to direct and coordinate all financial planning and budget management functions
- Participate and lead cross-functional teams across the organization to develop and execute financial strategies that align with corporate goals
- Lead the revenue recognition computation, analysis and review
- Manage all tax compliance requirements for both Canada and USA
- Recommend and monitoring of benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance
- Ensure compliance with local, Provincial/State, and Federal reporting requirements
- Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the departments goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures
- Serve as primary government liaison relative to financial issues and tax reporting activities
- Coordinate financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
- Oversees and support a strong internal control environment
Additional Responsibilities
- Represent the company externally to government agencies, auditors, bankers, legal, insurance, pension and benefits representatives
- Recruit, train, supervise, mentor and evaluate department staff`
Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skill Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), auditing and financial statement preparation with note disclosure
- Experience with Canadian and US corporate taxation preparation
- J-SOX or SOX experience would be a benefit
- Experience establishing internal controls and developing policies and procedures
- Firm understanding of percent of completion and revenue recognition as applied to project-based manufacturing principles
- Familiarity with long-term construction contracts, bonds, liens, creditor insurance would be considered an asset
- Manufacturing financial background and experience is required
- Proven skills managing projects acting as an agent for change, stream-lining processes, creating efficiencies and strengthening internal controls
- Ability to problem-solve, analyze complex issues, develop appropriate action plans and deliver the results in a timely manner
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to break down costs, interpret financial data and identify opportunities for efficiency and savings
- Knowledge of Dynamics 365 Business Central (ERP) would be beneficial
Education and Experience:
- CPA designation is required
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field
- Minimum of 10 year’s experience in a senior financial role with a manufacturing setting
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 3 or more finance related team members
