Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Initiation:
- Define internal teams project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with our customer and design team stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain project plans, including work order breakdown structure (units, anchors, brake metal, stool trims, etc.), schedules, shipping and crating plans, installation sequencing with customers, and resource allocation with functional managers.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Obtain necessary approvals and support for project initiation and changes.
Project Execution and Control:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Monitor project progress, track key project milestones, adjust schedules, and provide regular status updates to key stakeholders.
- Manager project budgets and expenses, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Resolve project issues, conflicts, and changes by applying effective problem solving and decision-making techniques.
- Ensure compliance to all project specifications, construction documents (architectural and structural drawings), shop drawings, quality assurance policies, drafting, and fabrication standards.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance:
- Identify project risks and develop risk management strategies to minimize their impact on schedule and budget.
- Conduct regular project risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation measures using the constraint log.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform project reviews and quality control measures to verify compliance with specifications and customer requirements using Bluebeam Studio reviews.
Project Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, schedules, shipping plans, reports, invoicing, AIA billing projections, and budgets updates.
- Communicate project status, progress, and results to key stakeholders, managers, and senior management.
Knowledge, Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- Understanding basic engineering principles, including structural design, materials technology and building science.
- Good understanding of building construction and strong knowledge of unitized and stick curtain wall, storefront, entrances, and window wall products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective skills in analytical thinking and problem solving.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and ability to effectively manage conflict.
- Ability to lead a team to obtain key performance results.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated/directed.
- Proficient with the latest version of Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Inventor and/or Autodesk Navisworks would be an asset.
Education and Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or related construction field preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
- Engineering background and experience are an asset but not required.
- 5 years of experience in the curtain wall industry preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage cross-functional project teams, including engineers, drafters and design technicians, fabrication technicians, take-off teams, and subcontractors.
- Set clear expectations, provide guidance, and mentor team members to ensure project success.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
- Facilitate meetings, discussions, and reviews to drive project progress and resolve any challenges.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, architects, general contractors, consultants, and internal departments, to ensure alignment and timely project delivery.
