    Position Overview:

    1. Respond promptly to calls for snow and ice events
    2. Prepare and attend scheduled shifts free from the influence of any drugs, cannabis, alcohol, or medicines that have an effect on safe and productive equipment operation
    3. Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment
    4. Clear snow from customer sites from designated areas (marked on site maps)
    5. Pile snow in designated and approved locations only
    6. Operate vehicles and snowplow equipment in a safe, responsible and efficient manner following all recommended operating procedures
    7. Control ice accumulations at jobsites with the safe and responsible use of de-icing agents (salt, treated salt, liquids or other de-icing chemicals)
    8. Hand-shovel or hand-treat site areas as required (walkways, doorways, fire equipment, etc.)
    9. Be available for communication at all times during a shift and before/after shifts
    10. Accurately document site service records for each and every site including times, services performed, weather conditions etc.
    11. Submit paperwork and documentation promptly at the end of each shift
    12. Document and report any obstacles at site(s)
    13. Document any equipment or site damages after every shift
    14. Wash exterior of equipment, clean interior of equipment after every use
    15. Perform basic maintenance and small repairs on vehicles and equipment as required
    16. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
    17. Comply with all company policies and procedures
    18. Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations


    Qualifications:

    1. Completion of high school
    2. Valid drivers’ license and/or equipment operators’ certificate(s)
    3. Safe driving record – able to submit a driver’s abstract (infractions history) upon request
    4. Minimum 2 years of experience operating snowplows and/or snowplow equipment
    5. Ability to read and interpret maps
    6. Documentation knowledge of: driver logbook; pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintenance and repair reports; and trip reports
    7. Ability to follow safe working procedures
    8. Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
    9. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    10. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
    11. Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
    12. Speak, read, and write English
    13. Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting


    Working Conditions:

    1. Various locations including both residential and commercial sites
    2. Extremely flexible working hours, including nights, weekend, and holiday work
    3. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly
    4. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    5. Work safely near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
    6. Work outdoors in various conditions including extreme cold, rain, dust, noise, and wet conditions
