Job Description: The Controls Engineering Supervisor is a hands-on position involving supervision of the electrical design and PLC programming teams in the development of equipment electrical control systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct, guide and mentor a team of electrical designers, virtual commissioners, and PLC programmers
- Scheduling and oversight of the electrical design and controls teams to ensure projects remain on-time and on-budget
- Review and assess scopes of work on new projects with regards to feasibility, hours and timing
- Review and issue electrical and pneumatic designs to the build teams
- Ensure project specifications, quality and timing meet both customer and company standards
- Oversight of safety systems to ensure all codes and standards are followed and are PHSR compliant
- Assist in commissioning of equipment and participate in internal and customer buyoffs
- Collaborate with the mechanical design department including participate in design reviews
- Weekly review and approval of departmental hours
- Collaborate with Human Resources on staffing, goal setting, performance and employee reviews
- Other duties as required
Skills & Experience:
- Strong Siemens and Allen Bradley controls systems knowledge with 8+ years of relevant experience
- Skilled in analyzing and troubleshooting electrical and controls issues
- Solid understanding with hands on experience on Robots, VFD’s and servo systems
- Experienced in electrical and pneumatic system design
- Proficient with Microsoft office products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel to and within Canada, USA and Mexico with a valid Ontario driver’s license and passport
Education:
- Electrical Technology Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
