We are seeking veterinarian(s) who thrive in a fast-paced exciting environment to help us maximize our community impact and life-saving potential! We have a robust public veterinary clinic where we provide high quality high volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN), microchipping, and other wellness-based/community medicine services. We’re proud of our ability to provide a high quality of care to our patients and service to their owners. We are fully equipped with a surgical suite, digital radiographs, an ultrasound machine, lab equipment, a dental machine, and a comprehensive pharmacy.

Position Summary: Provide high quality medical and surgical care (spay/neuter) to public owned pets (canine/feline), including free roaming community cats. Promote and support the services and programs offered by the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society, including wellness-based community medicine initiates. Engage with clients to establish a VPCR, answer questions, and provide general medical expertise.
Requirements: Is a member (of good standing) with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario that holds an unrestricted Veterinary license. Provide an up-to-date police clearance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Veterinary Medical Operations
• Perform thorough and complete physical examinations on patients
• Interact with clients as required to establish VCPR
• Maintain appropriate medical record keeping in accordance with CVO standards
• Oversees the appropriate use of controlled drugs during shifts
• Perform recheck evaluations on surgical patients as required
Patient Surgical Care
• Perform high quality, high volume, spay/neuters (HQHVSN)
• Ability to respond to emergency situations including anesthetic complications
• Maintain communication with other WECHS Veterinarians and/or managers regarding any cases requiring continued follow-up or care
• Monitor and observe patients while under anesthesia and during recovery from surgery
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with a team, and customer service skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced environment
• Detail oriented and exercises good judgment when interacting with clients and patients
Other Duties/Working Conditions
• Represents the WECHS in a professional and courteous manner
• Follows all of WECHS’s safety protocols and procedures
